South Shropshire Senior Citizens' Forum

At the AGM our long serving chairman Pamela Larney, informed the forum that she urgently required a successor. She will continue to represent South Shropshire  as an Association trustee, but the day to day business of the running of the forum now needs, in Pamela's words, a slightly younger pair of legs. The forum thanked Pamela for her enormous effort in establishing and growing the forum over the years, and now the search for a new chair begins in earnest. The South Shropshire Forum has achieved a good rate of growth since it started up, but it has to be said that the effort required to organize and run a forum covering such a large area as South Shropshire is considerable. Forum meetings have normally been held in Craven Arms because of its geographical location between Ludlow in the south of the district and Church Stretton in the north, and this seems to be a sensible arrangement for the future, though at some time the recently developed practice of the Shrewsbury forum in moving meetings to different locations in the Borough of Shrewsbury & Atcham might well be considered in South Shropshire. The forum has always laid on transport to make its meetings more accessible, and hopefully will continue to do so whatever the eventual meeting pattern is decided. The immediate problem is to identify and elect a new chairman. We therefore appeal to any member of the forum or indeed any potential chairman who has not yet joined the organization, to come forward and help progress the cause of this worthwhile older peoples movement to help ensure that the interests of all older people in South Shropshire can properly be guarded and progressed.

Interested candidates should contact Pamela Larney on 01694 722857, or the Association Office on 01743 244640.
